Trish is never far from our thoughts, so when we found out Trish’s long time friend, Natalie Locke of Perth breakfast radio show Nathan, Nat and Shaun was participating in the Walk for Women’s Cancer in her memory, we just had to get on board and let everybody know.
The 35km (!) walk through Perth sees each participant raise at least $1000 each toward cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute for Medical Research.
Some of the major projects currently underway at the Institute by their renowned doctors and biomedical engineers include developing cutting edge tools to assist in surgery, and nanoparticles to deliver anti-cancer drugs directly to the tumour site and generating a gene modifer to revert cancer cells back to normal functioning cells.
“Our team is walking to honour the memory of our great mate, Trish Hepburn who lost her battle with breast cancer 9 days before her 50th birthday. She was the funniest woman I have ever met (and I’ve met a lot of funny women!) and the queen of the deadpan one liner. Absolutely filthy too, which as you know, I consider a great trait!” – Natalie Locke
And we can certainly attest to that sense of humor!
